Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship - Apply

We accept applications for the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program at Penn State Children’s Hospital through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Fellowship prerequisites

To be considered for admittance to the program, you must:

  • Have completed an ACGME-accredited three-year pediatric residency by the beginning of the fellowship program
  • Be board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) or be eligible to sit for the ABP general pediatric examination during the first year of fellowship training

Application requirements checklist

We are accepting applications for the first-year fellowship position (for July 2017) until April 2, 2016, through ERAS.

Documents that are not accepted through ERAS can be submitted directly to asmith4@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.

Online application through ERAS:

  • Personal statement
  • Letters of recommendation:
    • A member of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at your residency training institution
    • Residency program director
    • A member of a division other than pediatric cardiology
  • Research mentor (if applicable)
  • Copies of USMLE scores or COMLEX scores
  • Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate (if applicable)
  • Copies of first author publication (email to: asmith4@pennstatehealth.psu.edu)

We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for the selection of first-year fellows.

Application process

Your application will be reviewed once your ERAS application is complete. We invite qualified applicants for an interview. We’ll pay for one night of your lodging the day before your interview. These arrangements will be made by the coordinator.

Applicants are evaluated on their:

  • Performance during their educational and training periods
  • Letters of recommendations (three minimum)
  • Clinical and research experience

International students

International medical graduates must hold a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to be considered for the match. We accept J1 visas.
