About Me

Janelle Porath, CRNP, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in nursing and is a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner working in the Penn State Health Children's Hospital neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Porath teaches the basics of neonatal X-ray interpretation to NICU nurses and pediatric residents. She is a volunteer photographer with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, an organization that provides remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby either through stillbirth or a death in the NICU, with a free gift of professional portraiture. She is a master trainer for Helping Babies Breathe, a program to teach neonatal resuscitation techniques in resource-limited areas, an initiative of the American Academy of Pediatrics in collaboration with the WHO, U.S. Agency for International Development, Save the Children's Saving Newborn Lives program and the National Institute of Child Health & Development. Porath is also a S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work and Emotional support) program instructor.
