Children's Heart Group
Penn State Children's Heart Group is a team of experienced pediatric cardiologists and pediatric congenital heart surgeons within Penn State Children's Hospital. We work together to provide advanced heart care for patients with congenital (present at birth) or acquired (developed later) heart disease. We treat newborns, children, teenagers and adults who have congenital heart defects.
With pediatric cardiologists in every subspecialty and two expert pediatric cardiovascular surgeons, we have experience treating even the rarest of heart defects and conditions.
Our comprehensive program is a regional center of excellence. Children benefit from the expertise of:
- Pediatric cardiologists
- Pediatric congenital heart surgeons
- pediatric intensivists
- Pediatric anesthesiologists
- Faculty of highly trained pediatric specialists, sub-specialists and support staff
The Children's Heart Group provides care to children from several underserved areas throughout the world. With the help of Variety Club International Lifeline Program and the Rotary Club, we have provided open heart surgery to many children from Colombia, Honduras, and Ecuador at no charge to their families. This is the only hope of treatment for these children. Without surgery, they have little chance of reaching adulthood.
